Knowledge base
The Knowledge Base is what the models should know about you: profile, tone, entities and sources. It is the input to generated content and to the agent — a thin knowledge base produces generic output, and no amount of prompting fixes that.
Brand & Writing
Profile and aliases
Name, domain, brand context, location, geographic reach and language, plus the alias list and the exact-match toggle. See Add your site for how those two affect matching.
Tone of voice
- Voice — how you sound.
- Style notes — the conventions worth keeping.
- Things to avoid — the words and claims you do not make.
E-E-A-T
Experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust, plus editorial responsibility: author or byline, reviewer, and editorial policy. These are the signals that separate a page written by someone who has done the thing from a page assembled from other pages.
Memory
Free-form notes the agent should carry into every conversation — the standing context you would otherwise retype.
Entities
Named things belonging to your brand — products, people, places — each with a type and a description. Entities are how the models learn that your product name is a product and not an ordinary noun.
Documents
Longer source material pasted in with a title: positioning documents, FAQs, spec sheets. Source of truth for the writing tools.
The context meter
Tone and Memory share a live character meter. It exists because the text is genuinely truncated before it reaches a model if it runs long — so the meter shows real overflow rather than clamping at 100% and pretending everything fits.
Topics
The second tab manages topics: the themes your prompts are grouped under, and the axis the insight views break visibility down by. Topics you define here are the topics that appear in the filter bar.
Competitors
Your competitor set lives alongside the knowledge base at Competitors. Three kinds are tracked separately because they behave differently in model answers:
| Kind | What it is |
|---|---|
| Direct | Companies you actually compete with. |
| Search result | Whoever occupies the answers for your queries, competitor or not. |
| Third party | Listicles, directories and review sites that get recommended instead of anyone. |
